Prayer is the lifting up of the mind and heart to God.  In prayer we turn to God and express our need of him, our love for him and our desire to please him.  “Prayer uniteth the soul to God”. (1)

We can pray with words, whether aloud or silently, or we can pray without words.  Such wordless prayer is not talking or thinking, but simply looking and loving. 

God “may well be loved, but not thought.  By love he can be caught and held, but by thinking never”. (2)
