This section of the website provides more extended teaching on larger content areas, such as the Creed and the Sacraments. It begins with Introduction·to the Christian Faith.  More content will be added in due course.

The section entitled Short Talks comprises stand-alone talks and articles on different aspects of the Christian Faith, including the teaching of Jesus, the seasons of the Church’s Year and Feasts and Festivals.· 

 

My neighbour

You will remember that the Ten Commandments teach us two main things: our duty to God and our duty to our neighbour.  You will, perhaps, ask, “And who is my neighbour?”  Well, that is the very question that a Jew asked Jesus.  Now Jesus very rarely gave a direct answer to a direct question.  He liked to help people think out the answer for themselves, and so, on this occasion, he told the man a story, the Parable of the Good Samaritan.

Revenge

You may have heard the story of Moby Dick, the great white whale which swam the Seven Seas, and which Ahab, the whaling captain, had sworn to kill because it was through Moby Dick that he lost a leg.  And so he hunted for Moby Dick, year after year, in order to get his revenge, until at last he found him again.

Fifth: Honour your father and your mother

The Fifth Commandment is, “Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you”.  And the Catechism explains this by saying, “To love, honour and succour my father and mother”.
